Create-A-Book trademark
The phrase Create-A-Book is a registered trademark owned by Create-A-Book, Inc for more than 25 years. We grant a license for dealers to use our software, and grant a license to use the trademark in conjunction with the sale of Create-A-Book brand books. When it comes to using Create-A-Book or CreateABook as part of your domain name, for example, JohnsCreateABook.com or CreateABookAtlanta.com, you would be using this trademark with our permission. Our policy has always been that we allow this use as long as the only personalized books available on your website are Create-A-Book books.
We are not discouraging you from offering multiple product lines, as we ourselves might have been an addition to your existing business. However, if you are using createabook or create-a-book in your company or website name, and selling other personalized books, people will assume all of your books are made by Create-A-Book, Inc. This has caused too much confusion for dealers, potential dealers and retail customers.
This is another reason most dealers create their own unique brand name for their business and websites, for example MyVeryOwnBook.com or JohnsPersonalizedBooks.com.
Please understand that to protect the brand over the years, we've had to stop a number of large and well known companies from using the Create-A-Book trademark. The proper way to protect a trademark is to stop anyone from infringement or using the mark in an incorrect manner. We have been advised us to review all websites that have createabook or create-a-book in the domain name, and check the contents of the sites to see if they are in compliance.
if you have any questions about your name, brochures, website or any other promotional material, please email john@createabook.com and we'll let you know if there are any issues.
P.S...Sorry for the legalese. Fortunately this is one of the only marketing restrictions we have, and protecting the Create-A-Book brand is beneficial to everyone.
